Surfrider Foundation Partners With ECO Skin Care

San Clemente, CA (August 4, 2011) – The Surfrider Foundation
announced today that it has partnered with ECO Skin Care Inc., as its
exclusive sunscreen partner.

In recent years public concern over the environmental impacts of
sunscreens has grown. It is believed that the UV absorbing chemicals
found in many popular sunscreens, such as oxybenzone and
octymethoxycinnamate, may pose a danger to marine life, including
corals. Unlike many other sunscreens ECO Sunscreen uses only 100%
natural ingredients, and was given a 0-1 rating (Safest) by the
Environmental Working Group [1].

“Our organization was founded by, and continues to be supported by
watermen – people whose lives and livelihoods are connected to oceans,
waves and beaches,” said Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation’s
Marketing Director. “We are excited to be partnered ECO Skin Care and
to be using their sunscreen products.”

In support of our marine environments, ECO Skin Care will be donating
up to 3% of their net revenue to the Surfrider Foundation to help fund
ongoing educational and activist efforts.

“We have always held the Surfrider Foundation in high esteem in
defending our marine environmental world and feel that they set the
standard for ocean awareness and activism. This partnership gives our
company an incredible platform from which to raise the public’s
awareness as to the serious environmental issues posed by traditional
chemical uv absorber based sunscreens on sensitive marine
environments,” said Rick Sample, CEO of ECO Skin Care.

For Immediate Release
“Preservation of the earth’s ocean environments has to be done on an
individual basis. We all have our part and responsibility to do what we can
do individually, so collectively we all protect the ocean. No longer can we
hide behind the feeling of, ‘I’m just one person and I’m not going to
matter.’ We all need to do our part whether it’s picking up trash we see or
even in choosing the type of sunscreen we use,” said James Urioste, EVP
of ECO.

“Knowing that they share our passion for a clean safe sunscreen and our
ability to partner with them for our oceans is an honor for our company.
We urge every sunscreen user who shares our passion for the Earth’s
oceans to seriously consider their sunscreen choice before they head out
to enjoy these pristine marine environments,” Urioste added.
ECO Sunscreen is non-toxic, biodegradable and water-resistant. ECO
Sunscreen has three distinct formulas; Body, Baby and Face, and can be
found locally at Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Whole Foods, Mother’s Markets,
Henry’s and nationally at West Marine.
